SCS and Polavaram funds will be first two promises to be fulfilled new govt: Jairam Ramesh

Amaravati:Lashing out at the Prime Ministe Narendra Modi, the Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that, “Even by mistake Modi cant speak truth. He never implements what he assures. He promised Special Category Status in Tirupati in 2014 and forgotten.”
Modi did not fulfil any his promises made to Andhra Pradesh, stated Jairam Ramesh, while extending solidarity to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s Dharma Porata Deeksha at AP Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday.
Mr Modi will take VRS and the first decision of new government will be the Special Category Status to AP and the second decision will be the package for resettlement and rehabilitation for the Polavaram project.
Because of efforts of Chandrababu Naidu only the Polavaram project is completed about 70 percent. But, the central government has not fulfilled its commitment towards the completion of the project.
There was a commitment in AP Reorganization Act that the central government has to provide financial assistance to construct capital city, which was violated.
Special Category Status to AP was the commitment given by the then prime minister Manmohan Singh, but the present prime minister Narendra Modi did not implement. This government is not serious in implementing the provisions of the Act and the commitments made by Manmohan Singh.
Our party president Rahul Gandhi came to the Deeksha and assured the Special Category Status, he added.
We had fought with Chandrababu Naidu for thirty years, but now Modi is our common political enemy.
“I have emotional attachment with the Andhra Pradesh, hence I came to speak here.” He added.
After concluding his speech, Chandrababu Naidu said that Jairam Ramesh was the architect of the AP Reorganization Act. Chandrababu Naidu said that Jairam Ramesh was accompanied with him to meet all the ministers in bringing pressure on all ministers to implement the Act in true spirit.
Naidu further added that, Rahul Gandhi also assured that there will be no compromise on SCS and Polavaram.
The CM thanked for their commitment on completing Poalvaram and ensuring SCS.
“Despite of being in a pathetic situation of losing his wife, Jairam Ramesh came to the Deeksha and extended solidarity. That is his commitment towards AP. I appreciate him”, Chandrababu Naidu said.
