Demand clearance of pending extra duty remuneration

Warangal: The employees of Kakatiya University examination branch continued their protest on Friday demanding extra duty remuneration pending since September.

They staged a demonstration at the examination branch premises on the university campus holding placards and raising slogans in support of their demand. The employees expressed surprise over the laxity of the in-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof K Veera Reddy towards the issue.

“It is a simple issue and is being practiced since 20 years. Why the Vice-Chancellor is not approving the payment of remuneration is both surprising and annoying,” protesting employees stated.

KUNGOs Association president Kola Shankar has explained that the employees of the examination branch were being given the remuneration twice in a year since they need to work round the clock in conducting the examinations, announcing the results and in preparing mark sheets.

An installment of the remuneration which was supposed to be paid in September was not paid. A representation to the in-charge Vice-Chancellor Veera Reddy was submitted but the issue was not addressed so far.

Association of Kakatiya University Teachers (AKUT) president Prof M Sarangapani called on the protesting employees and expressed his solidarity to them. “Demand of the examination branch employees is just and authorities should address it immediately,” he said.

Meanwhile, the agitating employees have warned that all the official work at the examination branch would be stalled from December 23 and a bandh would be observed on December 30, if the authorities failed to address the issue.

KUNGOs Association leaders P Srinivas, S Balaji, B Srujana, K Sampathi, Fourth Class Employees Association president P Venkatram Narsaiah leaders Ch Prabakar, P Ankoos , Md Shukur, P Komuraiah and others were present.

The leaders of the university SC/ST and Minority Employees Association and Campus College Association have also expressed their solidarity with the protesting examination branch employees.
