Khammam: District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar directed the officials to take measures for conducting the civic polls in a smooth and peaceful environment. He held a review meeting on Corporation elections with Nodal and revenue officials at his chamber in the Collectorate here on Saturday.

On the occasion, the Collector asked the officials to give postal ballot to all POs and APOs, who will attend training programme on February 21 along with the letters mentioning the date and place of second phase training.

He gave several directions to the officials such as, to keep 50 ATMs in reserve in the 50 wards that were under the Municipal limits; distribution of voter slips from February 29; to keep an eye on paid articles from the time of notification issued; and not to allow advertisements regarding election campaign to be given without prior permission.

Serious action will be taken against the poling persons, who fail to attend for the training classes and discharge their duties properly, the Collector warned.

Joint Collector D Divya, Additional Joint Collector K Babu Rao, Trainee Collector Mushroff Ali Farooq, Kothagudem RDO Ranvindranath and nodal officers were present in the review meeting.
