Noted social reformer Savitri Bai Phule was remembered here on Thursday marking her 120th death anniversary. The leaders of various social and governmental organisations paid rich homage to Savitri Bai Phule on the day. Kakatiya University SDLCE Director Prof Ch Dinesh Kumar and faculty have offered floral tributes to the statue of Savitri Bai on the university campus.

Warangal: Noted social reformer Savitri Bai Phule was remembered here on Thursday marking her 120th death anniversary. The leaders of various social and governmental organisations paid rich homage to Savitri Bai Phule on the day. Kakatiya University SDLCE Director Prof Ch Dinesh Kumar and faculty have offered floral tributes to the statue of Savitri Bai on the university campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dinesh Kumar said Savitri Bai was not just a social reformer but was also the first women teacher in India. She advocated and supported the cause of women education in the country and has made great efforts in that direction. ‘She fought for women education in order to alleviate social imbalances.

Everyone, especially the current generation women, should draw inspiration from her life and works and uphold her ideals,” he said. Senior faculty M Sarangapani, T Purushotham, Rajesham, B Ilaiah, V Ravinder, G Sudhakar, S Malleshwar, K Padmalatha, P Sarangapani, M Sandhyarani, B Srujana and others were present.

In another programme at the SDLCE, Telangana Private Lecturers Association (TGPLA) state president P Srinivas Goud, district president B Srinivas, district in-charge K Srinivas, working president Ch Shanker and others have offered floral tributes to Savithri Bai statue. Speaking on the occasion, they lauded the contributions made by Savitri Bai towards protection of women’s rights and their education.

She set up schools and colleges for women and her efforts paved way for women’s emancipation in modern society. TGPLA leader T Sridhar, V Rajender, D Sridhar, Ch Praveen, K Pratap, Non-Teaching Employees Association leaders GP Sudhakar, Praveen and Venu Gopal were present.
