Hyderabad: A pall of gloom has descended over Pragathi Nagar, following the death of Vijay Teja, a medical student of Osmania Medical College (OMC). Vijay was among the four students who died in a bus accident near Vijayawada on Monday. With his parents rushing off to Vijayawada immediately after the new broke, the neighbours were keeping guard of the house in the evening.

S Navamani, the aunt of the victim said that Vijay had completed his course at OMC and was waiting for the convocation in the first week of April. She added, “He was planning to appear for the civil services exam and become a bureaucrat to serve the nation.” Ramulu Naik, a neighbour said, “He was a brilliant student who completed his school education from the Pragathi Vidya Niketan.

He was equally good at sports as well. It is unfortunate that such bright boy’s life has been cut short. He would have surely cracked the civil services exam as he was too focused.” A round 60 to100 people in Pragathi Nagar were seen gathered outside the house, waiting for the body of Vijay, which was being brought from Vijayawada by his father M V N Bhaskara Rao.

Recalling the memories of Vijay as a school going kid, Prasad Rao, a neighbour who has seen Vijay grow up, said, “There was not a single complaint against him in last 20 years. He was cut above the rest, well-mannered and punctual. We will miss him.”
