Unhappy Telangana may move Supreme Court
Unhappy with the decision of the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on sharing of Krishna waters, the Telangana government is examining various options, including recourse to legal measures by moving the Supreme Court.

Soon after the decision of the Tribunal, Irrigation minister T Harish Rao held an emergency meeting with officials and said his government would take all necessary measures to protect the interests of the state. It would also seek legal opinion and take a final decision on its next course of action.
Talking to media in New Delhi, Irrigation advisor to the state government R Vidyasagar Rao said the Tribunal had clarified that water sharing issue would be confined to Telangana and AP only.
Project-wise water allocations and release of water to be made during drought period between the two states was also not acceptable to Telangana, he said.
He said though the TS government had put up a strong argument on its demand, the Tribunal did not take it into consideration. He said the government was preparing for another round of strong arguments before the Tribunal on December 14 to protect the interests of the state.
Under the Section 89 in the AP Reorganization Act, the Telangana government has been arguing strongly before the Tribunal for re-allocation of assured waters between the upper and lower riparian states in the Krishna basin.
After the bifurcation of the state, the government strongly objected to the allocation of 512 TMC of water to Andhra Pradesh and its utilization in the non- Krishna basin.
State Additional Advocate General Ramachandra Rao said the tribunal did not take into consideration the arguments of Telangana.
