While taking part in the flag hoisting ceremony at Police parade ground on Thursday he said that after the bifurcation of erstwhile Mahbubnagar into 4 smaller districts, the remnant Mahbubnagar is left over with an overall extent of 5285.10 square kilometre spreading across 26 mandals and having an overall population of 14,85,567 people in the district.

“After bifurcation we have redrawn our priorities for the remnant Palamuru and have asked all department heads to renew our focus and redraft action plans for development.

At present we are having 567 revenue and 468 Gram Panchayat villages across the district, and we are giving priority to complete all the irrigation projects and ensure 100 per cent grounding of welfare schemes in the district,” said the Collector.

Enumerating on the irrigation development in the district the Collector said that the Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation project is one of the most important projects aimed at providing irrigation water to an area of 14.13 lakh acres across 7 assembly constituencies and 22 mandals in the district. Rajiv Bheema and Koilsagar are the other important irrigation projects which are expected to irrigate an ayacut of 50,250 acres and 1.11 lakh acres respectively.

“Under Mission Kakatiya an amount of Rs 102.95 lakh has been sanctioned for renovating 423 tanks taken as part of its first phase during 2014-15 of which Rs 52.56 crore has been spent and 393 tanks have been renovated. The tanks under subsequent phase 2 and 3 are under various stages of completion,” informed the Collector.

The Collector also informed that Rs 53.30 crore have been released to pay against the crop loss of the farmers during the year 2015 which is deposited against the accounts of the farmers.

Referring to the bank loans to the farmers in the district, the Collector said an amount of Rs 3,417 crore has been allocated to the farmers of which Rs 2,698 crore has been provided to the farmers under farm loans during the year 2016-17.
