Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) National president N Chandrababu Naidu called a crucial meeting with all senior leaders of the TDP Telangana unit during first week of May. The meeting is supposedly organised following the speculations of some more leaders quitting the party and joining other parties as Telugu Desam is losing the sheen in Telangana.

The meeting is organised to formulate a plan to strengthen TDP in Telangana

Party leaders said Naidu asked TDP President L Ramana and working President A Revanth Reddy to attend the meeting along with all politburo members from Telangana to discuss the political developments taking place in the State and to ascertain strengths and weaknesses of the party.Naidu would seek an explanation from Revanth on the reports about the latter joining BJP. Ramana was already asked to explain the reasons for declining popularity of the party in Telangana.

Naidu was serious on party leadership’s failure over the exposure of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s government.Sources said Naidu would take a crucial decision on party affairs and will work out a road map after eliciting the opinion of all the leaders in meeting. The TDP chief, who is also the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, wanted to dedicate his whole time to AP in view of facing a tough competition from the main opposition YSR Congress in next election. “2019 elections are crucial for Naidu and his son and IT Minister N Lokesh’s political career.

Naidu wanted to get rid of all political troubles facing the party in Telangana. The party chief wanted the T-leaders to survive on their own and strengthen the organisation in the next two years,” a senior leader from Warangal told The Hans India that the outcome in the meeting would certainly impact the Telangana politics.Naidu will also hold talks on the demand to organise Mahanadu- party’s annual conclave, in Telangana. Party leaders requested Naidu for the conduct of separate Mahanadu for AP and Telangana to galvanise the party cadre. Generally, Mahanadu is organised between 27-29 May every year.
