Hyderabad: Sleuths of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Sunday arrested the prime accused in the TS Eamcet-II 2016 question paper leak in Uttar Pradesh. He is being brought to the city on Tuesday.

The CID officials said the accused, S Bahadur Singh, was caught in Jaunpur town near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and was produced before a local court on Monday for obtaining transit warrant. He would be produced before the designated court in Hyderabad after reaching the city before taking him into custody for questioning, the officials said.

Investigations so far indicate that Singh was the person who had purchased the Eamcet-II 2016 question paper from the printing press in Delhi through an insider identified as Ranveer. Singh had paid Rs 10 lakh to Ranveer to get the question paper and sold it in turn to various people, they added.

Surprisingly, CID sources said, Ranveer died two months ago even as the cops were searching for his whereabouts. It was not clear why and how he died and whether there was any conspiracy behind his death.

So far, the CID had arrested over 60 accused in the case but all of them were brokers and organisers of the camps where students were provided with the leaked questions for practice before the actual entrance test.

Now that Singh has been arrested, the CID officials are confident that they would be able to elicit full conspiracy related to the question paper leak.
