Officials told to focus on farmers suicides

Adilabad: District Collector D Divya has directed the officials to complete the investigation of cases related to farmers’ suicides. “The investigation of 157 farmers’ suicide is pending and they need to be completed by June 30,” she said, instructing the officials to find out reasons behind the farmers’ suicides.

All the eligible victims should get the assistance under the National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS). It may be noted here that families living below the poverty line are entitled to get financial benefits after the death of the sole breadwinner under this scheme.

Further she told the officials to get the victims’ children join in the State-run residential schools. Divya directed the officials to lay special emphasis on verification before issuing Agency Area Certificates to people. Joint collector Sandhya Rani, RDOs Suryanarayana and Jagadeeshwar Reddy were among others present.
