Turkapally (Yadadri-Bhongir): Women belonging to the Banjara tribe celebrated Teej festival on a grand note at Tokya Thanda of Turkapally mandal in the district on Thursday.

It is a traditional practice of tribal women to organise the weeklong celebrations of Teej festival in the month of July. As a part of the festival, they danced rhythmically to the beats of drums sporting colourful attires balancing baskets containing sprouts on their heads and in circular motion.

In their songs, they wished that the farmers should reap a bumper harvest, everyone should lead a healthy life without affected by seasonal deceases and girls should get the best life partners.
