Hyderabad: Telangana government will appeal to the Centre to commence out-patient services at AIIMS- Bibinagar as early as possible after it takes over the existing NIMS. This inside information was shared by former Health Minister and Jadcherla MLA C Laxma Reddy on Tuesday.
There is a reason behind Telangana government's plea to Centre to commence out-patient services at the earliest. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, with an aim to expedite AIIMS establishment in Telangana, has decided to allot readily built-in infrastructure presently housing NIMS extension in Bibinagar.
In the six-storey building constructed in over 8 acres, out-patient services are functioning presently in cellar, ground and first floor. Nearly 100 patients from nearby villages visit every day for OP treatments being given by NIMS doctors.
Usually if AIIMS authorities take over a site in any part of India, they take nearly four years to complete construction works to ground the project entirely.
If similar formula is applied in Telangana, AIIMS- Bibinagar would only start functioning after three to four years.
The advantage with Telangana site is that the state government is giving a spacious six-storey building, which Central teams can modify according to AIIMS norms to start off operations initially.
