A total of 8367 percent polling has been recorded in the division, which comprises 188 panchayats and 1270 wards 23 GPs and 228 wards have already been elected unanimously Elections have been conducted in 125 GPs and 1042 wards Polling began at 7 am and continued till 1 pm People thronged to the polling stations and shown keen interest to cast their votes
Parigi: A total of 83.67 percent polling has been recorded in the division, which comprises 188 panchayats and 1270 wards. 23 GPs and 228 wards have already been elected unanimously. Elections have been conducted in 125 GPs and 1042 wards. Polling began at 7 am and continued till 1 pm. People thronged to the polling stations and shown keen interest to cast their votes.
The polling in the constituency has been conducted peacefully with coordination of police. The constituency has witnessed a huge turnout in these elections compared to previous polls, which registered only 60 percent polling. Psephologists attributed the highest turnout to people’s awareness on the importance of casting vote.
The locals who had migrated to different cities, returned to their respective villages, hence polling stations wore crowded look. There are a total 30, 958 voters in Parigi mandal in which 27,422 voters cast their vote. 86 percentage of polling has been registered in Pudur mandal, while Kalkacharla witnessed 81.18 percent and 78.56 percent polling was recorded in Doma mandal.
