Gas Cylinder e-KYC Deadline Today: How to Complete Aadhaar Authentication

The deadline to finish the e‑KYC (Know Your Customer) process for Indane Gas, HP Gas and Bharat Gas LPG cylinders is Wednesday, September 30 2026. If the e‑KYC is not completed by that date both PMUY (Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana) beneficiaries and people who are not users may experience interruptions in their service until the e‑KYC is finished. The Ministry of Petroleum has announced that Aadhaar biometric authentication will become compulsory for LPG services starting on October 1 2026.

Reports indicate that the final date to complete e-KYC verification is September 30, 2026. This measure aligns with new ministry regulations mandating Aadhaar biometric authentication for LPG starting next month.

Key reasons for making e-KYC mandatory include ensuring that legitimate, eligible customers receive LPG subsidy benefits and curbing the diversion of domestic cylinders for commercial and industrial use.

September 30 is one of several deadlines the ministry has granted LPG users to complete the biometric process.

Initially, LPG customers were asked to complete their e-KYC by June 30, 2026. Subsequently, the government extended the deadline on several occasions to allow consumers time to complete the procedure. Before the September 30 deadline, the cutoff date had been set for September 14, 2026. Earlier deadlines had been established for September 7, August 31, August 23, August 15, August 7, and July 31.

According to the ministry, oil marketing companies (OMCs) have been conducting a nationwide outreach campaign since October 2023. More than 120 million SMS and WhatsApp messages have been sent. Additionally, distributors and delivery personnel have personally followed up with consumers who had not yet completed the authentication process. Special campaigns have been organized at distribution centres, high-footfall locations, and in rural areas. Furthermore, Interactive Voice Response Systems (IVRS) have been utilised during refill requests, alongside mobile notifications and campaigns across social media, print media, and other channels.

What happens if the e-KYC deadline was missed?

Reportedly, those who failed to complete their e-KYC by September 30 will be required to pay commercial rates for their domestic LPG cylinders. Here is what that entails regarding domestic LPG prices in India: Currently, 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders are priced at ₹942 in Delhi, ₹941.50 in Mumbai, ₹968 in Kolkata, and ₹957.50 in Chennai.

Commercial LPG prices in India: 19 kg LPG cylinders are priced at ₹2,747.50 in Delhi, ₹2,701 in Mumbai, ₹2,884 in Kolkata, and ₹2,916.50 in Chennai.

Consequently, if LPG customers do not complete their e-KYC, they could end up paying ₹1,805.5 more for their domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi (a commercial rate of ₹2,747.50 versus the domestic rate of ₹942). This same impact is likely to be felt in other cities as well.

Furthermore, PMUY scheme customers who have not completed their e-KYC may be unable to order LPG cylinder refills until they finish the process.

Starting October 1, 2026, Indian Oil, BPCL, and HPCL are likely to suspend LPG subsidy benefits for customers who have not completed their biometric authentication (BAA); the suspension will remain in effect until the e-KYC process is completed.

Under the new regulations, for consumers who have not completed BAA, the option to order refills at the subsidized Retail Selling Price (RSP) will become available once authentication has been performed.

To put this in perspective, domestic LPG is sold below cost. According to the ministry, the implicit subsidy for September 2026 is around ₹210 per 14.2 kg cylinder; in June 2026, it reached ₹721 per cylinder.

How can you complete e-KYC for Indane Gas, HP Gas, and Bharat Gas?

1. During refill delivery: The delivery person can perform the authentication on the spot using the oil marketing company's (OMC) mobile app.

2. At the distributor's outlet: Consumers can visit their LPG distributor and complete the authentication there. 3. Via oil companies' mobile apps: consumers can complete the process themselves from home.

4. IndianOil ONE for Indane customers: steps to complete e-KYC

1. Download the IndianOil One app or the AadhaarFaceRD app to complete e-KYC from home.

2. Open the IndianOil One app and register using your registered mobile number and email address.

3. Link your 16-digit LPG ID, which appears on your purchase receipt or subscription voucher. Consumer details will be displayed.

4. Go to the home screen and tap on "My Profile." 5. Review your LPG service details in the "My Profile" section and tap on "re-KYC."

6. Read the instructions and conditions carefully, and provide your consent.

7. Check the box on the facial authentication notice page, click on "Face Scan," and complete the Aadhaar biometric verification.

5. HelloBPCL for Bharat gas customers

1. Download the Hello BPCL app.

2. Open the app and register.

3. On the home screen, tap the "e-KYC" option.

4. Enter the six-digit OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

5. Read the terms and conditions, and provide your consent.

6. Click on "Proceed" to complete the eKYC process.

6. HP Pay for HP Gas customers

Steps to complete eKYC

1. Download the HP Pay app to perform eKYC and access other LPG services. You can also use the Aadhaar FaceRD app.

2. Open the HP Pay app, tap "Register," and enter the mobile number linked to your HP Gas account.

3. Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number for verification.

4. Set up a 4-digit MPIN for easy future access.

5. Log in using your MPIN and grant location access.

6. Go to the "MY HP" section and tap "LPG."

7. Tap "e-KYC." You will be redirected to the terms and conditions page.

8. Read the terms, provide your consent, and click "Capture Face."

9. The Aadhaar FaceRD app will open. Allow it to scan your face, follow the on-screen instructions, and complete the eKYC process.
