Satya Nadella welcomes Virat Kohli to LinkedIn
Virat Kohli has made his debut on LinkedIn, using his first post on the professional networking platform to share his vision for the future of Indian sport and his growing business interests.
The Indian cricketer’s arrival on LinkedIn quickly caught attention. His follower count crossed 240,000 within 24 hours, highlighting the enormous interest surrounding his move to the platform.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was among those to welcome Kohli to LinkedIn. Commenting on the cricketer’s debut post, Nadella congratulated him on his new venture with one8world.
"My feed just got even more interesting. Welcome to LinkedIn, Virat! And congrats on your next chapter with one8world."
Kohli’s first post was not focused on cricket. Instead, he spoke about his long-standing ambition to see India develop a stronger sporting culture, with greater recognition and participation across different sports.
"I’ve always wanted to see an India where every sport is followed, celebrated, and played. Today, that vision feels closer than ever. A new generation is proving that India can produce world-class athletes and build brands for the global stage," Kohli wrote.
He also outlined his broader vision of creating an end-to-end sports ecosystem from India. According to Kohli, the idea extends beyond athletes and competitions to include manufacturing, consumer brands and sports distribution.
"The vision is clear. It’s time to build something that will outlive all of us. That’s the journey we’re on," he added.
As part of this expansion, Kohli said he has joined Agilitas as an investor and taken on the role of co-founder and co-creator of one8world.
The cricketer also reflected on the philosophy behind one8, saying the brand has been built around pushing boundaries, raising standards and taking a different approach. He recalled the experience of seeing one8world come to life in front of thousands of people in his home city as one of the most meaningful moments of his life.
Kohli’s LinkedIn debut marks another step in his transition from being known primarily as a cricketing icon to becoming an entrepreneur and investor. His first post signals an ambition to create businesses with a global footprint while contributing to the growth of India’s wider sporting ecosystem.
