Collector calls for stringent measures on food adulteration
Asifabad: District Collector K. Haritha has directed officials to take strict action against those involved in food adulteration and ensure food safety across the district.
The Collector issued the instructions during a meeting of the District-level Food Safety Advisory Committee held at the Integrated District Collectorate complex on Wednesday.
Additional Collector (Revenue) M. David and officials from various departments attended the meeting.
Haritha directed food safety officials to conduct extensive inspections of hotels, bakeries, eateries and other food establishments, while verifying business licences and shop registrations.
Action should be taken against establishments found using adulterated ingredients.
She also stressed regular monitoring of the quality of raw materials supplied to welfare hostels, residential schools and ashram schools to prevent foodborne diseases and poisoning incidents. Officials were urged to coordinate closely.
She further suggested publishing details of seized items and erring establishments in newspapers.
