Facial recognition attendance system introduced in SCCL
Kothagudem: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has introduced a facial recognition-based attendance system on a trial basis in its Kothagudemarea as part of its efforts to modernise employee attendance management through advanced technology.
The pilot project was launched on Monday with the objective of ensuring transparency, improving employee punctuality and strengthening workplace discipline.
Although biometric attendance systems are already being used at some General Manager’s offices in Singareni, this is the first time that the technology is being implemented across the minesand departments of an entire area.
Singareni employs around 40,000 people across its operations, of whom approximately 1,600 are working in the Kothagudemarea.
The management selected the area for the initial trial before extending the system to other locations.
According to the management, attendance was recorded smoothly on the first day of the trial, without any technical issues. Employees also reportedly expressed satisfaction with the new system. The facial recognition facility is expected to automate attendance recording, minimise manual intervention and improve transparency and perational productivity.
