Mancherial: "It is important to save tigers, which plays a pivotal role in the health and diversity of an ecosystem. They are at the apex of the food chain and keeps the population of wild ungulates in check, thereby maintaining the balance between prey herbivores and the vegetation upon which they feed," said Forest Range Officer Mazruddin.

Global Tiger Day was celebrated at Centre of Excellence (COE) School in Bellampally in Mancherial district on Monday.

Essay writing and drawing competitions were conducted in the school on the day and prizes were distributed to the winners.

School principal Inala Saidulu, Govind Chand Sardar, Deputy Range Officer Babu Patekar, J Tirupathi, K Gouri Shankar, Forest Section Officers Mallaiah, Tirupathi, Tejaswini, Prabhakar, Srinivas, vice-principal Pramod, teachers and students were present.
