Narayanpet: With many complaints against the healthcare authorities of Narayanpet district hospital, District Collector S Venkatrao has taken a serious note on the issue and made a surprise visit to the hospital to take stock of the situation on Sunday.

It is said that the Hospital superintendent Dr Mallikharjun has been behaving indifferently with the patients and not taking proper steps to provide better treatment facilities in the hospital.

On Sunday, two students who were injured in a road accident gave written complaint to District Collector. Reacting to which the District Collector inspected the hospital and directed the healthcare staff to take up immediate measures to provide best treatment facilities to the visiting patients in the hospital.

"There have been some complaints observed from the patients. We have taken cognisance of this and instructed the healthcare staff to immediately take corrective steps, as this is the season of vector borne diseases.

We have directed the healthcare staff to take all measures. If they needed any addition funds to acquire any equipment, medicines or anything the administration is always there. However, if any negligence is observed we will not hesitate to take severe action against them," the Collector said.

The Collector visited the hospital and interacted with the patients. He observed that there are more than 2-3 patients being admitted on a single bed. Particularly in the children's ward, one bed to is given to three small children.

The Collector directed the officials to install additional beds and ensure there is cleanliness in the surrounding of the hospital. He also directed the healthcare staff to ensure that there is no spread of diseases from one patient to the other through infections.
