Nirmal Collector assures irrigation water supply to farmers
Khanapur: Nirmal District Collector Bhavesh Mishra has assured farmers that necessary measures will be taken to ensure adequate irrigation water for crops nearing harvest. On Monday evening, he inspected Sadarmat Barrage at Ponkal in Mamda mandal, the Sadarmat area near Medampalli in Khanapur mandal, and tail-end ayacut fields in Kotha Maddipadaga and Pata Maddipadaga villages of Kadem mandal.
Officials briefed him on the barrage’s storage capacity and current water levels. The Collector said one TMC of water was available and assured farmers that supplies would be regulated according to crop requirements. He stressed that removing obstructions to water flow along the river would help ensure smooth distribution and urged farmers to avoid wastage.
Residents of Pata Maddipadaga also raised drinking water concerns. Mishra promised steps to construct an overhead tank, identify a fluoride-free source and provide safe drinking water through a borewell. Irrigation officials, revenue staff, MPDOs, village sarpanches and other personnel attended the inspection.
