Vikarabad: All the major parties are busy honing their strategies to woo voters as the election day fast approaching. TRS, Congress and BJP are intensifying their efforts to strengthen their position in the constituency. KTR is going to be part of a roadshow scheduled on March 30. Congress has been trying to learn a lesson from the defeat in the last assembly elections and recover its dominance. Meanwhile, the BJP is also trying to gain strength by propagating popular central schemes.

There are seven Legislative Assembly constituencies in the Lok Sabha constituency of Chevella. Three of these constituencies are within Vikarabad district limits. The election will be held on April 11 and campaign will end 48 hours before the election. As there is no enough time, candidates are not able to campaign in each village. So, they are holding meetings with the leaders at mandal-level and handing over the responsibilities to them polling booth-wise.

Vikarabad MLA Dr Metuku Anand has taken up the campaign for candidate Dr Ranjith Reddy, who is a new face in the region. He has been meeting with village-level leaders time to time and chalking out plans to get a huge majority. TRS party got 3,526 votes majority in the assembly polls and is eying a huge majority in the Lok Sabha polls. Former Minister Mahendar Reddy is also organising meetings with leaders and activists.

Konda Vishweshwar Reddy got a majority of 16,000 votes in the Lok Sabha elections held in 2014. He left TRS and joined the Congress before the legislative elections. Now he is in the fray as Congress candidate and stepped up his campaign. He appointed one in-charge for every 200 voters in the constituency. Former Minister Prasad Kumar is the in-charge of the election. He is taking it prestigiously to achieve majority in his own constituency.

BJP candidate Janardan Reddy has been holding meetings with several party activists for a year to gain strong hold. He is propagating welfare schemes introduced by the central government, which are widely popular among the people. He is also concentrating on winning over local leaders and activists at mandal-level.
