Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that a common travel pass for RTC buses and the Metro in Hyderabad would become available starting today (Friday). He revealed that the pass would be issued at all Metro stations and would be valid for travel on city buses and the Metro within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits. The Chief Minister shared details about this common pass in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
He stated that the pass is valid for city buses operating within the ORR limits, eliminating the need for separate tickets for the bus and Metro. He noted that over 2.5 million (25 lakh) bus passengers and 450,000 (4.5 lakh) Metro passengers would benefit from this initiative. He emphasized the government's focus on improving last-mile connectivity and described the move as a crucial step toward integrating public transport. CM Revanth Reddy stated that the goal is to transform Hyderabad into one of the fastest-growing cities.
Meanwhile, the Revanth Reddy government has introduced combined daily and monthly passes for RTC buses and the Metro rail. This joint pass enables travel on both RTC buses and the Metro rail. The daily pass has been priced at ₹400, while the monthly pass is set at ₹8,500.
Additionally, the government has introduced online ticketing for RTC buses. A facility has been introduced to obtain tickets directly on mobile phones, eliminating the need for a conductor or a physical ticket. The RTC has also introduced a weekly pass. The state government has provided a facility to purchase daily tickets, day passes, and weekly or monthly bus passes directly on mobile phones via the app.
