Hyderabad: In a setback to former TRS MLC Bhupati Reddy, a division bench of Telangana High Court on Wednesday dismissed the petitions filed by him challenging disqualification from the MLC posts by the Legislative Council chairman in January this year.

The Court did not find any illegality in the orders passed by the Council chairman in disqualifying the petitioner and there were no merits to allow the petitions filed by him, the bench observed.

Reddy shifted loyalties to Congress after a group of TRS leaders lodged a complaint against him with party Chief KCR last year.

The court also refused the counsel plea to stop ECI from issuing notification for electing new MLC in Reddy's place.
