Asifabad: A tiger wandering into human habitations and near opencast mining areas is creating panic among the people.

Kadamba forest in Asifabad district is home for tigers and a tiger, which wandered off from the forest, sighted near coal mine areas Goleti-1A, Kairguda opencast, Tiryani, Bebbena, Asifabad and Tandur areas one month ago.

The officials had confirmed that a tiger was spotted near Gundala river under Rebbena mandal areas first and then it was appeared in Rachapalli village under Tandur, where it killed a bull. Later it wandered to Goleti open cast mine area and killed a cow, from there it went Tumpalli village under Asifabad and killed an animal, terrorising the locals.

Several videos of a tiger wandering near Kairguda opencast coal mines went viral on social media. Local officials warned the villagers not to go out after 8 pm to 5 am and not to venture into the forest during nights.

Speaking with The Hans India, a forest officer said that it is nothing but natural for wild animals to venture into human habitation when coal mines were established in forests.

Normally tigers do not stay at a place but keep on moving from one place to another and they will travel 30 to 50 km per day in search of food.

Komaram Bheem-Asifabad district is surrounded by two tiger reserve forests - Tadoba Tiger Reserve of Chandrapur district of neighbouring Maharashtra State and another is Kavval Tiger Reserve Forest, he said.
