The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) to operate buses with 50 per cent occupancy in some parts of the state especially in the green zones. This comes after the Union government granted permission to the states to operate buses.

To ensure the physical distance, the TSRTC is mulling to give numbering to the seats. There are around 40 to 50 seats in a bus each row. However, the number of seats are different for different buses.

According to an official from TSRTC, only 20 passengers will be allowed if the total bus capacity is 40. The officials are also taking measures like providing sanitizers for the passengers to use before boarding the bus. Meanwhile, the authorities are waiting for permission from the state and to decide on operating the buses from May 15.

The bus services were suspended 50 days ago after the centre announced lockdown. This is the second time in the last six months that the buses were confined to the depots after a 52-day strike in 2019.
