Tirupati: The new 108 and 104 Ambulance service vehicles meant for the district have been inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy and Minister for Panchayat Raj P Ramachandra Reddy on Thursday. The state government has allotted 64 vehicles of 104 service and 38 vehicles of 108 service besides two neo natal ambulances to Chittoor district.

The vehicles meant for various mandals in the district were flagged off at SV University's Tarakarama stadium by the two ministers along with other public representatives and District Collector Dr N Bharat Gupta.

Speaking on the occasion, the DY CM K Narayana Swamy said that the CM has been fulfilling each and every promise he made during his Padayatra. He always thinks of people's welfare and their problems, he stated and the introduction of 1088 new Ambulance vehicles in the state was a step in that direction.

Minister P Ramachandra Reddy recalled that it was YS Rajasekhar Reddy who introduced 108 and 104 services to help the people in medical emergencies and brought in the concept of Aarogya Sri. He criticised that the successive governments have made those services defunct by sending the vehicles to sheds.

``But, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy wanted to revive these services in the best interests of the people. While the media from entire country has been lauding this initiative, it was very unfortunate that opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu has been criticising it alleging irregularities. The 104 ambulances will tour in rural areas for 20 days in a month,'' the minister said.

Collector Bharat Gupta has also spoke on the occasion while Chittoor MP N Reddeppa, MLAs B Madhusudan Reddy, K Adimulam, JC- Development V Veerabrahmam, DM&HO Dr M Penchalaiah, DCHS Dr P Saralamma, RDO V Kanaka Narasa Reddy and Addl DM&HO Dr C Aruna Sulochana Devi participated.
