Hyderabad:Soon, digital classrooms at Nizamia Tibbi College

Charminar: Rather than lamenting for lack of support from State government, the staff of Government Nizamia Tibbi College (GNTC) took upon themselves and decided to modernise classrooms.

In this endeavor, one of the proposed seven classrooms has been 'digitalised' through their contributions from staff for providing better education to the students pursuing to be doctors of Unani branch of alternative medicine (alt-med) in India.

According to college authorities, the 82-year-old GNTC renovation works were taken by the newly appointed principal of GNTC and additional director of Ayush, Telangana State, Dr Mohammed Ahsan Farooqui. He decided to take up the renovation works with the contribution of employees of GNTC and started digitalizing classrooms, besides renovation and beautification works of the campus.

According to staff, the principal has decided to digitalize the classrooms to impart latest and modern education to students. "In its first phase, one classroom has been digitalized out of a total of 7 classrooms. By end of February all classrooms would be digitalised", said Assistant Professor and general secretary Telangana Unani Medical Officer Association Dr Hyder Yamani.

Dr Yamani said that these classrooms were getting digitised through concerted effort and contribution of staff and also by the college alumni. "This was only possible because the newly appointed principal, staff, students and alumni worked in tandem on this project. Moreover, this was a heritage structure, and everyone should come forward to protect it," he added. It may be mentioned here that, with the contribution of staff several works were taken up in the last couple of months and have been successfully executed while setting an example. While one of the major attractions at this institution was 'Nishaan-e-Tib' (symbol of Unani medicine), which saw the light of the day on January 26.
