Karimnagar: Changes likely to occur in education system

Karimnagar: Enormous changes are likely to take place in the education system with coronavirus affect in the united Karimnagar district. According to lockdown-5 norms, the State government must wait until the Central government issues next guidelines regarding reopening of educational institutions in States across the country. Until then, all the educational institutions, both private and government, must remain closed.

The Central government stated that it would issue next guidelines in July, which made it compulsory for the managements of private educational institutions to bring in some changes in the education system for their survival.

There are around 645 government and 950 private educational institutions in the united Karimnagar district. Some private schools had already started online classes through ZOOM App for SSC students while teachers of government schools and colleges are taking online classes to the students through State Council Education Research Training (SCE).

But the students are facing a few problems in attending the online classes. The students, who want to attend the online classes, must compulsorily have either Android smart mobile or computer or a laptop. Internet connection is also an obstacle for students living in rural areas as they may not access easily to classes with low frequency of internet connection in their villages. Also, all parents may not afford smart mobile phones to their children, which costs more.

Meanwhile, large number of parents are opposing the online classes system as there would be no proper supervision on students. Hence, they are requesting the government to go for classroom method of teaching by taking precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Taking all these points into consideration, the government is gearing up for conducting classes through classroom teaching method with minor changes. The government is also preparing certain guidelines to issue to both private and government educational institutions. Along with imparting education to the children, the managements will be told to focus on sanitation and maintenance of physical distance and personal hygiene of every student.

Telangana Residential Schools Management Association (TRSMA) State president Yadagiri Shekar Rao stated that if the government issued orders to run educational institutions by taking online classes, then it must first sanction Tablet pieces to each and every student present in the State for their convenience. Apart from that the government must sanitise private educational institutions through local bodies for preventing the spread of coronavirus, he added.
