Discuss SEC issue, Cabinet vacancies?

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy called on Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan at Raj Bhavan on Monday. Though official sources said it was part of a courtesy meeting, it is learnt that many issues had come up for discussion between the two. The Chief Minister reportedly explained to the Governor about the surge in corona positive cases and the measures taken by the government so far and the state of its preparedness.

It is also understood that the issue of State Election Commissioner N Ramesh Kumar and the government's stand on the verdict of the High Court also figured during the discussion.

It may be recalled that the Supreme Court had refused to stay the High Court order reinstating him. The Election Commission of India had recently written a letter to the Governor on this issue. Meanwhile, Ramesh Kumar is said to be contemplating to move a contempt of court petition.

In the backdrop of this situation, the Governor is understood to have asked the Chief Minister as to what the Government proposes to do.

Since two ministers P Subhash Chandra Bose and Mopidevi Venkataramana have been elected to the Rajya Sabha, Jagan is learnt to have mentioned about the possibility of some changes in the portfolios of ministers while filling the two vacancies. The issue of Opposition stalling the appropriation bill and passing of other bills is also said to have come up for discussion.

Government Advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and a few other officials were with the Chief Minister.
