AP, Telangana to receive rains amid impact of cyclone
The Meteorological Department has issued advisories regarding Andhra Pradesh. Amid heavy rains caused by the impact of a cyclone, the department has issued advisories that more heavy rains might hit Andhra Pradesh due to the change in weather in the Bay of Bengal. The cyclone continues to have an impact on NTR district and heavy rains are expected in the region today, according to the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA). A holiday has been announced by the District Collector for education institutions.
"There is a likelihood of heavy rains falling in isolated pockets in the Krishna, Guntur and Bapatla districts today. Moderate rains are expected in Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, NTR, Palnadu, Markapuram, Prakasam and Nellore. However, some of the districts might face scattered light to moderate rains," said Prakhar Jain, Managing Director of the APSDMA and real-time governance society (RTGS) CEO.
The Meteorological Department has also said that Telangana may also face light rains due to changes in weather in the Bay of Bengal. Some of the districts may receive moderate rains along with thunderstorms and lightning.
