Markapuram: Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharita, Women and Child Welfare Minister T Vanitha and Education Minister Dr Audimulapu Suresh on Wednesday said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy gives priority to the welfare and empowerment of women.

The Ministers inaugurated various development works at Yerragondapalem on Tuesday night.

The Home Minister said that the government is providing various welfare schemes directly to the different sections of society. The Chief Minister observed that lack of education was the reason for backwardness and that is why he was giving priority to education. She said that the Chief Minister wants to provide holistic education to the children in the State and developing the schools under Nadu- Nedu programme.

She explained that the government is giving Rs 15,000 to 43 lakh mothers to send their children to schools and made Disha Act to protect women in the State.

Vanitha said that the government has sanctioned extra funds of Rs 1,700 crores under the YSR Sampurna Poshana scheme. The issues at the Anganwadi centres will be addressed and nutritious food will be distributed through them. Regarding reforms in the Education department, the Minister said that preschool education was introduced in the Anganwadi centres.

Suresh added that the second year Amma Vodi funds will be deposited in the accounts of mothers on January 9. He requested the Home Minister to establish a civil court in Yerragondapalem mandal headquarters, a traffic police station at Markapur divisional headquarters.

The Ministers inaugurated an Anganwadi building at Yandrapalli village in Pullalacheruvu mandal and a fire station at Yerragondapalem. The district Women and Child Welfare Officer Lakshmi Devi, Markapuram RDO M Seshireddy, Yerragondapalem Market Committee chairman Murthy Reddy, and others also participated in the programme.
