Vijayawada: Several Ganesh idol immersion processions were held across Vijayawada city on Sunday as part of the seventh day of Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations. Ganesh Utsav committees organised processions from various parts of the city and brought the idols to Seethamma Vari Padalu in the Krishna River, near Prakasam Barrage, for immersion.
A large number of medium-sized idols, mostly up to 10 feet in height, were immersed during the day. The immersion process continued smoothly without any untoward incidents being reported so far. Organisers brought the idols in specially decorated vehicles to the river for immersion, accompanied by DJs, while youngsters participated enthusiastically in the processions.
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) and NTR District Police Commissionerate made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the immersion processions. Sufficient cranes were deployed to facilitate the immersion of idols.
Police personnel were stationed along the designated routes and at the immersion point to regulate traffic and maintain law and order.
The police and VMC officials coordinated with other departments and supervised the arrangements at Seethamma Vari Padalu. Officials ensured that the idols were immersed only at the designated location to avoid inconvenience and ensure safety.
The authorities continued to monitor the movement of processions and coordinate arrangements to facilitate devotees and organisers during the immersion programme.
The laddu of Lord Ganesh was auctioned for Rs 2.59 lakh during the Ganesh Navaratri celebrations held at Seetharampuram village in Nuzvid mandal of Eluru district.YSRCP leader Kavuluri Yogeswara Rao, popularly known as Yogi, won the auction by bidding Rs 2,59,000 for the Ganesh laddu. Members of the festival committee congratulated Yogeswara Rao on winning the auction.
Speaking on the occasion, Yogi expressed hope that with the blessings of Lord Ganesh, his family would be blessed with good health, happiness and prosperity.
He also wished for the well-being and prosperity of his friends and people of the village.
