Amaravati: The state government is now poised to launch another welfare scheme YSR Nethanna Hastham for handloom weavers. Under this scheme, the government will provide financial assistance of Rs 24,000 every year. The scheme is going to be implemented from December 21, 2019.

This was one of the most important decisions taken at the Cabinet meeting held here on Wednesday. The Cabinet also decided to buy 3,677 new buses for APSRTC by going in for term loan of Rs 1,000 crore, release of Rs 4,741-crore worth bonds for Discoms, introducing new welfare scheme for fishermen, YSR Adarsham scheme for unemployed SC, ST, BC, Minority, and Kapu youth. The government has been making all-out efforts to ensure that the Kapus, who were once vote bank of TDP, continue to remain with YSRCP.

Briefing media on the Cabinet decision, Minister for I&PR Perni Nani said the Cabinet has approved the proposal to issue bonds worth Rs 4,741 crore through the AP Power Finance Corporation to meet the financial debt burdens.

This the government feels will give some relief to the Discoms which are facing financial crunch. In view of the fishing ban between April 15 and June 14 every year, the government has decided to provide financial help of Rs 10,000 to each fisherman.

The families that own mechanised, motorised and non-motorised boats. For the first time the government has decided to include families that depend on rafts in this scheme. Preparations are being made to implement this scheme from November 1.

Moreover, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to increase diesel subsidy for fishermen by 50 per cent to run their boats. This would be implemented from November 21 on the occasion of World Fisheries Day.

Another important decision was to hike the honorarium being provided for mid-day meal workers from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000. This would benefit around 88,296 people. Similarly, the cabinet approved increase the daily allowances of home guards from Rs 600 to Rs 710.

In its attempt to do away with the middlemen and to help the outsourcing employees get their full wages and will also do away with fake wage bills, the government has decided to set up a corporation which would be under the General Administration Department. The salaries will be directly credited to the employees' accounts.

It also gave its nod for five regular posts, 100 contract posts, 60 outsourcing posts in 200-bed kidney hospital to be constructed at Palasa. Under the YSR Adarsham scheme, the government proposes to extend financial help to the extent of Rs 50,000 to buy trucks which would be used to carry sand. A detailed scheme would be worked out soon, the minister said.
