Dokiparru (Gudlavalleru): A mass Varalakshmi Vratham was conducted at Sri Bhu Sameta Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Dokiparru Mahakshetram here on Friday on the occasion of the last Friday of the holy month of Sravana.

The two-hour-long ritual began at 6 pm. A large number of women devotees participated in the puja. Temple founder trustee Sudha, administrators K Bapireddy and Vijayabhaskaramma, and family members including Sumalatha and Prasanna also took part in the rituals.

The temple authorities provided puja materials and other required offerings free of cost to the devotees. The arrangements were overseen by trustees Krishna Reddy and Sudha Reddy. Vedic scholars explained the significance of the Varalakshmi Vratham and offered blessings for the well-being and prosperity of women. The annual Varalakshmi puja is observed at the temple on the fourth Friday of Sravana month. A Lakshmi Yagam and Maha Shanti Homam were also performed at the temple on Friday morning as part of the Varalakshmi celebrations. Annadanam was served to devotees after the rituals.

Sri Krishnashtami was also celebrated at the Mahakshetram on Friday with special pujas and Abhishekams.

The traditional Utti Kottadam ceremony organised after the rituals attracted devotees. A large number of young people and devotees participated in the celebrations and had darshan of the deity before receiving Teertha prasadam.
