Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday conducted an aerial survey of Cyclone Murasu-affected areas in Guntur, Bapatla and Prakasam districts and directed officials to immediately clear waterlogging in Karamchedu, Kothapatnam, Chirala, Chilakaluripet and Parchur.

During the survey, the CM inspected the impact of the cyclone in Chilakaluripet, Ongole, Kothapatnam, Chinaganjam, Chirala and Bapatla, where he witnessed submerged crops, villages surrounded by floodwater and roads blocked or cut off by the heavy rains.

Following the survey, Naidu reviewed the situation with senior officials and collectors through the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS). He directed District Collectors to prepare action plans for clearing accumulated water and ensure that road traffic and people's movement were not disrupted. He stressed that immediate steps should be taken to prevent public inconvenience as rainfall continued in several areas.

Officials informed the CM that heavy rainfall had increased water flow in streams and canals, including Errakaluva and Gonela Vagu. They also warned that additional floodwater could enter these watercourses due to rainfall in neighbouring Telangana. The Chief Minister directed officials to remain alert and take necessary precautions.

The review also focused on continuing heavy rainfall in the tribal areas of Eluru district, particularly Buttayagudem, Velerupadu, Polavaram, Jeelugumilli and Koyyalagudem mandals.

The Eluru district collector informed the Chief Minister that minor irrigation tanks in some locations had reached capacity and were overflowing. Chandrababu instructed officials to closely monitor the situation and take timely measures to manage the inflows and protect affected habitations.

Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad, senior officials from various departments and collectors participated in the review meeting.
