New civic chief to improve basic services in Anantapur

Anantapur: The city is in for a big transformation with a plethora of development schemes under implementation. The priority of the new Corporation commissioner Prashanthi is to improve basic citizen services including sanitation, roads, drainage and water supply. The smart city works started by erstwhile TDP government would continue.
Works had been taken up to the tune of Rs 35 crore. These when implemented would change the face of the city into a beautiful, clean and green city. The smart city funds would be invested in laying of smart roads, growing of trees on road dividers and avenue plantations, renewing of drains and welcome arches on the north, south, east and western poles of the city, giving the city a corporate look.
All city parks are also being upgraded into gymnasium and fitness centres for both men and women. Municipal Commissioner P Prashanthi told The Hans India that her priority is effective water management and improving the efficiency in water supply and dealing with water wastage. Besides transparency in administration and resolving all civic issues cropping up in Spandana is also a top priority.
The Vidhyuthnagar-Court road, LKP-Srikantam road, Tower clock-Station road and the NTR Marg road and the Super-Speciality Hospital road are being enlarged and road dividers are being constructed for improving lane discipline.
Drains are also being renewed to prevent overflowing of rain and drain water. Iron container toilets for the benefit of floating population in the city from 63 mandals in the district is now a boon for men and women, who come from rural areas to the city. The civic chief said that the introduction of e-office meaning paperless transactions both small or big could effectively handle graft or corruption.
All work orders and financial payments are done on-line giving no scope for red-tapism or exploitation of anyone or unduly delaying any transaction for monetary reasons. The major achievements of the corporation being settling of long-time disputes between the corporation and the stakeholders including compensation payments for land acquired etc for public causes.
All public transactions are done hassle-free with no scope for complaints of corruption. The corporation is also geared up to execute a waste disposal project of 1.5 tonne with the help of a latest furnace machine which burns and destroys garbage. The mechanism is totally pollution-free, says the commissioner.
