The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha state president Kethineni Surendra Mohan, BJP Ongole parliament president Sirasanagandla Srinivasulu, district Kapu Sangham president Sanjeev Rao, Reddy Sankshema Sangham Ongole assembly convener Venkata Reddy, Kapu Kalyanamandapam president Thotapalli Venkata Rangarao, Vasavi Club regional chairperson Gurram Ranganath, leaders from other upper castes Koteswara Sarma, Mallampeta Krishnarao, Nagasuri Guruprasad, and others participated in the roundtable and shared their opinion.
They said the union government has provided 10 percent reservation in education and jobs by including the article 15(6) and 16(6) by the 103rd and 124th amendments to the constitution. The government announced the implementation of the EWS Reservation Act throughout the country by the gazette notification on January 14, 2019.
They said that the TDP the government announced to provide 5 percent of the EWS reservation to Kapu community but didn't issue any official orders about the EWS reservation for the notification of Group II, Panchayat Secretary, etc. posts and admissions in various institutions. The YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who promised to implement the EWS reservation for the same after becoming the Chief Minister, they alleged.
The representatives of the communities said that due to the non-implementation of the EWS quota, poor candidates from the upper castes have lost golden opportunities in JEE Mains, EAMCET, PG Medical, and jobs like ward and village secretariat posts, as the government failed to issue EWS certificates to the candidates in 2019.
They said that after the issue of the EWS certificates, many poor candidates from the general category have proved their mettle and qualified for even AIS. As the Chief Minister announced that January as recruitment month and the education minister announced to fill in 20,000 plus teacher posts, they expressed concern that they might lose opportunities if the government does not relative orders for the upcoming recruitments like teachers, Group I, II, III and IV, VRO, police, forest, excise departments, etc, before the issue of notification.
They demanded the government to issue orders to notify the EWS reservation to all recruitments and implement the 'Single Fees- Common Eligibility Test' model like the National Recruitment Agency and provide subsidy to the EWS candidates to reduce the financial burden.
