VIJAYAWADA: Polling for ZPTC and MPTC elections in NTR and Krishna districts recorded a voter turnout of over 14 per cent and 15 per cent respectively on Thursday morning. Women voters were seen standing in queues at several polling stations to exercise their franchise in the two districts.

In NTR district, polling is being conducted for 16 ZPTC and 276 MPTC segments, while in Krishna district, voters are casting their votes in 26 ZPTC and 352 MPTC segments.

Polling commenced at 7 am and will continue until 5 pm. District Collectors Dr G. Lakshmisha of NTR district and D.K. Balaji of Krishna district are closely monitoring the election arrangements and supervising the polling process to ensure the smooth conduct of voting.

Meanwhile, voters in several villages expressed dissatisfaction over the improper distribution of voter slips. Many voters reportedly faced difficulties in identifying their respective polling stations due to the non-distribution of voter slips in advance.

Voters also complained that political party leaders were not making adequate efforts to help them locate their polling stations, causing inconvenience, particularly to elderly voters and women.

Following complaints from several villages, election officials responded by taking steps to distribute voter slips near polling booths to facilitate voters and minimise difficulties in identifying their polling stations.

The polling process is continuing under the supervision of district election authorities. Officials are monitoring the arrangements to ensure that voters can exercise their franchise without further inconvenience.
