Nandyal: Nandyal District Collector G Rajakumari has declared a compulsory paid holiday on Thursday, November 5, for all employees and workers employed in shops and commercial establishments across areas notified for the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections. In an official statement issued on Tuesday, the Collector announced that the paid holiday is being enforced in accordance with the statutory provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Shops and Establishments Act, 1988. The administrative measure aims to guarantee that workers across the commercial sector can exercise their democratic right to vote without encountering work-related restrictions or facing loss of wages.

The Collector explicitly directed all owners, business operators, and administrative managements of commercial establishments within the specified electoral segments to grant paid leave to their workforce on polling day without exception.

Furthermore, Collector Rajakumari warned employers against creating any operational hurdles or administrative impediments that would prevent workers from casting their ballots. Emphasizing strict enforcement, she instructed commercial operators to extend full cooperation and ensure their staff can reach polling booths conveniently. Highlighting the importance of grass-roots democratic participation, the Collector reiterated that all notified commercial entities must strictly comply with the state guidelines to ensure maximum turnout across the district’s MPTC and ZPTC polling stations on Thursday.
