Security beafed up in Vizag for Bhogapuram airport inauguration

Security measures have been significantly heightened in the Visakhapatnam city ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit for the Bhogapuram Airport inauguration on August 1. A no-flying zone has been established at Bhogapuram, with tight security for 48 hours, including a high-security zone covering a 5 km stretch. Drones, UAVs, paragliders, and microlight aircraft are banned, and special traffic regulations are in force.

Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi has urged the public to avoid travel unless urgent, with restrictions on heavy vehicle movement from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Around 2,000 buses have been allocated for the Prime Minister’s public meeting, expecting approximately three lakh attendees from nearby districts.

Meanwhile, Governor, Abdul Nazeer, along with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, will arrive in Visakhapatnam on Friday evening via helicopter. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, staying at Radisson Blu, while governer resides at Novotel hotel and Naidu at Port guest house will attend the event. Security has been intensified across the city in anticipation of the VVIP movements.
