Bhimavaram: Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma said India was strengthening its position as a global power under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had completed 25 years in public service. Addressing the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha organised by the BJP West Godavari district unit at SRKR Engineering College here, Srinivasa Varma said Modi had been working continuously for the development of the country.

MLC Somu Veerraju, Rajya Sabha member Paka Satyanarayana, BJP leaders, workers and students participated in the programme. The participants watched Modi’s address from Delhi on an LED screen and later took the Viksit Bharat pledge. Srinivasa Varma said Modi took charge as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001 and served in the post for 13 years before becoming Prime Minister.

He said Modi had been working as Prime Minister for the past 12 years for the progress of the country. He said political instability had prevailed for a long period before 2014 and coalition governments and the lack of a clear majority had affected decisive governance on several occasions. The BJP securing a full majority in 2014 led to the formation of a stable government and paved the way for comprehensive development, he said.

Srinivasa Varma and Veerraju jointly launched the yatra at SRKR College. BJP district president A Sridevi, State spokesperson Mullapudi Renuka, State secretary B Adilakshmi, State executive committee members Subhash Raju and Kayitha Surendra, district general secretaries Kalidindi Vinod Varma and Thota Gangaraju, Mahila Morcha district president Satyavathi and Minority Morcha president Shaik Mohuddin were among those who participated.
