Rampachodavaram: The Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls is being conducted in a transparent, impartial and systematic manner in Polavaram district, District Election Officer and Collector K Dinesh Kumar said on Thursday.

He said the SSR exercise had been underway in the district for the past three months, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) conducting house-to-house surveys and verifying enumeration forms. During the exercise, voters with anomalies, discrepancies and no mapping were identified, notices were served on them and face-to-face enquiries were conducted.

The house-to-house survey also helped identify voters who were absent, had permanently shifted from their residences or had died. A separate ASD (Absent, Shifted and Death) list was subsequently published, the collector said.

As part of ensuring transparency in the revision process, meetings are being held every week with representatives of all political parties at the levels of the Collector, Electoral Registration Officers, Tahsildars and BLOs, he said. So far, the district has identified 39,928 voters under the ASD category.

Notices were issued to 16,182 of them and enquiries were conducted. Of these, around 15,100 were found eligible, while 1,077 were found ineligible.

The Collector said the details of 40,004 voters, including those identified under the ASD category and those found ineligible during scrutiny, were now being taken up for further verification. As per the directions of the Election Commission, BLOs started a fresh house-to-house re-verification of these voters across the district on Thursday.

The list of voters being taken up for re-verification has also been made available on the official website, he said. If any error is noticed during the re-verification or if any person eligible for inclusion in the electoral roll is identified, the BLOs will accept Form-6 applications and take steps to enrol them as voters. The final electoral roll under the SSR will be published on October 16, Dinesh Kumar said.

Even after publication of the final roll, eligible citizens will have an opportunity to apply for inclusion of their names by submitting Form-6 applications, he added.
