Andhra Pradesh Federation of Resident Welfare Associations (APFERWAS), Visakhapatnam, donated Rs 4 lakh to the AP Chief Minister Relief Fund

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Federation of Resident Welfare Associations (APFERWAS), Visakhapatnam, donated Rs 4 lakh to the AP Chief Minister Relief Fund. The cheque for this amount was handed over to GVMC Commissioner G Srijana here on Monday.

APFERWAS president Uday Shirname and vice-president K S R Murthy, among others presented the cheque. APFERWAS collected the amount from its constituent RWAs in the six zones of Visakhapatnam city. In addition to this fund generation, most of the RWAs participated in COVID-19 relief activities, by way of providing groceries and safety materials like masks, gloves, sanitisers to the victims affected by the lockdown. Rice, pulses and food were also provided at many of the centres opened by the RWAs on National Highways and at important clusters in the city.

For the last three months, RWAs continuously organised awareness programmes for citizens on social distancing, importance of using sanitisers, etc through social media platforms. In some colonies, Covid-19 warriors, including doctors, sanitary staff, security and paramedical personnel were honoured by the RWAs for safeguarding the public through their selfless work even in most critical times.
