Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh reiterated the commitment to 34% BC reservations. Speaking during an informal interaction with the media on Thursday, he remarked that the YCP's announcement of a mayoral candidate for Nellore reveals their lack of understanding, questioning how candidates could be declared before reservations are finalized. He emphasized the party's clear stance on BC reservations, noting that the BC community forms the backbone of the Telugu Desam Party. He added that the outcome of the Supreme Court proceedings would be known tomorrow (Friday).
The Minister expressed the view that the election schedule would be released immediately after the Supreme Court's verdict and that local body elections are likely to be held in October. He stated that the focus would shift to appointments for nominated posts after the local elections conclude.
He mentioned that the performance of corporation chairpersons would be reviewed before considering any renewals, reiterating that the issue of nominated posts would only be addressed after the local elections. Asserting readiness for the elections, he emphasized the necessity of rotating reservations.
