A week after permission was accorded for resuming post-production works, the Tamil film industry now is lobbying with the state government to allow shooting with all restrictions to be followed strictly. R K Selvamani, husband of YSRCP leader and ex-actress Roja who is heading the film employee body FEFSI met with the minister concerned in Chennai on Monday. He has requested immediate action in this regard.

Broadly, the demands were:

• Permission for the commencement of television serials to begin with

• Completion of shooting for around 50 films which are stuck in various stages with an investment of around Rs 600 crore locked in them

• Like how companies in 11 sectors have been given permission to function with minimum staff, cinema shooting also to be permitted with just 100 people

Assuring the government that due care is being taken to maintain social distance and adequate use of masks and sanitisers, the three trade bodies which met the minister till evening requested the government to take a favourable view to alleviate the miseries of around 10000 workers who could be employed in these projects.
