Meghalaya CM Conrad K. Sangma Appreciates ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’, the First South Indian Film Shot Entirely in Meghalaya
Telugu crime comedy ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’, which has been shot entirely in Meghalaya, is gearing up for a grand worldwide theatrical release on October 9, 2026. The trailer, teaser and two songs released so far have received a positive response from audiences. In this backdrop, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma released a special video congratulating the team of ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’.
Calling it “a proud moment for our state,” Conrad K. Sangma said that ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’ is the first South Indian film to be shot entirely in Meghalaya and that the film will take the beauty of the state to audiences beyond its hills. Referring to Meghalaya’s mist-covered hills, breathtaking waterfalls, pristine rivers and living root bridges, he said, “Cinema is another wonderful opportunity to share our land with the world.”
Sangma congratulated producer Venu Donepudi, Chitralayam Studios, the cast and the technical team. He thanked the team for choosing Meghalaya as the filming destination, placing their trust in the state and bringing its beauty to the big screen. He also said that film production creates opportunities for the youth and local communities, allowing them to showcase their talent and learn new skills. Sangma expressed his eagerness to welcome more filmmakers to the state.
Sangma said that ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’, which is releasing on October 9, will entertain audiences with humour, unexpected twists and diverse characters. “When the natural beauty of Meghalaya captivates you on the big screen, come to theatres and experience its beauty, culture and warm hospitality for yourself,” he said.
Producer Venu Donepudi said, “We are extremely grateful to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K. Sangma, for his support and encouragement. The people of Meghalaya welcomed us with great warmth. The breathtaking landscapes and hospitality of the state brought life to ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’. We look forward to shooting many more films in this beautiful state. Sangma garu’s encouragement means a lot to our entire team. We hope the film, releasing on October 9, will make Meghalaya proud.”
‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’ is a new-age crime comedy made with a different concept. Presented by Donepudi Chakrapani and produced by Venu Donepudi under Chitralayam Studios, the film is directed by Guni Manchikanti. The film will be released on October 9.
