Tamannaah to be part of ‘The Dirty Picture’ sequel!

The 2011 biopic “The Dirty Picture”, based on the life of south Indian actress Silk Smitha, was one of the highest-grossing films in Indian cinema. In the film, Vidya Balan receives the National Film Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Silk Smitha. There are currently rumors that a sequel to it is in the works, and that Tamannaah is in talks to play the lead role in it.

The upcoming film, according to reports, would not be sticking to the biographical account of Silk Smitha. Rather, the film is said to revolve around a different story, unrelated to the life and career of Smitha. The makers of the film have yet to confirm the reports.

Ekta Kapoor is understood to have mentioned in an interview that a sequel is in development, prompting speculation as to what it would be about and who would star in it. Industry insiders believe that the film would focus on the discrimination against women in the film industry and other issues like sexual harassment.

Industry insiders speculated that the sequel may be based on the life and times of Nisha Noor, a glamour model-turned-actress who was a big name in the late 80s.

As of now, there are no official confirmation on the reports of a sequel being in development.

Likewise, it is yet to be determined if Triptii or Tamannaah would be the one to star as the lead actress in the film. More information regarding the film’s cast and production schedule is awaited.
