Addl Collector inspects preps for Wanaparthy Champions Cup-2026

Wanaparthy: Additional Collector N Kheema Naik, accompanied by relevant officials, inspected the Government Polytechnic College grounds and the Government Boys’ School grounds, where the Champions Cup sports events are set to be held from October 16 and 17. Noting that Dasara holidays have been declared for all schools and colleges in the district, he emphasised the need for flawless arrangements for this inaugural sporting event, which aims to create a festive atmosphere for the local youth and public. He stressed that the venues must be suitable for the events and that basic amenities—such as drinking water, mid-day meals, and restrooms—must be well-maintained for the athletes.

Since the Champions Cup involves competitions in sports like cricket, kabaddi, badminton, and chess across 15 mandals, a large number of sports enthusiasts from these areas are expected to attend; he directed officials to provide necessary facilities for the spectators as well, including seating, shaded areas, and drinking water. The District Youth and Sports Officer was instructed to make advance arrangements to ensure the successful conduct of the inaugural event on Friday morning and the closing ceremony on Saturday evening.

Responsibilities regarding sanitation and drinking water facilities were assigned to the Municipal Commissioner. Officials were directed to organise the Bathukamma celebrations at the Government Polytechnic College grounds on Saturday evening.

District Youth and Sports Officer Sudheer Kumar Reddy, District Public Relations Officer P. Sitaram, Municipal Commissioner Niranjan, local Tahsildar Ramesh Reddy, and others accompanied the Additional Collector.
