Yash Finally Reacts To Toxic's Box Office Failure

It is well known that Pan-Indian star Yash’s recent movie Toxic totally disappointed his fans and movie lovers too. Although he gave his best on the big screens, the weak storyline and improper execution landed the movie in the soup.

Although the movie witnessed massive advance sales, the negative talk on the first day itself made the movie witness a sharp drop in collections from day two. Even the English version which was released a couple of days ago didn’t show its impact.

Finally, Yash responded on Toxic’s box-office results by doling out, "Don’t take it to heart. Let’s leave it to the audience now. We made the film with sincerity and gave it to the people.”

He also added, "Don’t keep thinking too much about how it turned out. There’s more work waiting get ready for the next one".

On the other hand, let’s also breakdown the Toxic actual budget and its recovery at the ticket windows:

Yash’s Toxic was initially planned on a ₹600CR budget aiming for a 2025 release. However, during production, the makers reportedly felt the budget was insufficient and pushed their investment to Rs 700 crores as the English release was further planned.

But this movie was not even ready for its March 19 release. According to the sources, around 30% of the footage scrapped, followed by reviews, restructuring and reshoots. This made the total investment rise to Rs 800 crores. Thereafter, film was slated for June 4, 2026, before pushing it to August 26th release.

Well, along with the director Geetu Mohandas and Yash, even producers were completely confident on their output and said a big ‘NO’ to an lucrative OTT deal. They further released the movie to a few distributors on returnable basis clause. So, there was no OTT deal nor guaranteed return. This further landed them in the soup.

And one more important point is, the reported Rs 800 crores production investment didn’t include YASH's remuneration. It is all known that he opted to go with the profit-sharing arrangement, effectively taking the risk. After four years of work on TOXIC, his daring step didn’t work out well.

Finally, the movie minted Rs 250- 300 crores at the box office leaving behind a whopping loss of 500 crores. Thus, both Yash and KVN Productions need a strong comeback to recover this big loss!
