IIT Hyderabad opens applied AI programme for working professionals
The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) has announced the October cohort of its Applied AI Professional Certification Programme, scheduled to begin on October 24, 2026. The four-week programme follows demand for the September edition and aims to help working professionals develop practical skills in designing, building, evaluating and deploying artificial intelligence applications. The programme will run from October 24 to November 14, 2026, in a hybrid format. Participants can attend instructor-led sessions either on the IIT Hyderabad campus or online. The course combines classroom instruction, guided learning, hands-on laboratory sessions, project development and mentor support, allowing participants to apply concepts throughout the programme. Following a “learn, apply and build” approach, participants will develop a production-style AI agent application over the four weeks. The curriculum covers several aspects of AI application engineering, including tool use, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), memory, orchestration, multi-agent systems, observability, evaluation, guardrails and deployment.
The programme is designed to take participants beyond the basic use of generative AI tools and introduce them to the processes involved in developing applications for practical use. Participants will work on a connected project, applying the concepts introduced during the sessions and refining their applications as they progress.
The course will conclude with project demonstrations and feedback. Participants who complete the prescribed laboratory work, assessments and other programme requirements will receive an IIT Hyderabad Professional Certificate. The programme will be led by Dr. Praveen Tammana, Dr. Ashish Mishra, Dr. Anupam Sanghi and Dr. Abhijit Das, faculty members in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Hyderabad. N. V. S. S. Koundinya, an industry practitioner and AI Solution Architect, will also contribute to the programme.
According to the programme organisers, the ongoing cohort has attracted working professionals from different industries and locations, including participants from outside India. The October edition continues the initiative to provide structured, project-based learning in applied AI.
Registrations open
